Firing a employee based simply on their age is also considered age discrimination. Gender discrimination is when someone is not treated equally based on their sex in the workplace. Unequal pay for the same job, sexual harassment or even pregnancy discrimination. This can affect everyone but is primarily expressed towards women and girls.
Race discrimination is when someone is treated badly in the workplace because they are of a certain race. It is against the law to discriminate against someone in the workplace because of their assumed or actual race. Disability discrimination is when a employer discriminates against a employee or someone applying for the job that has a disability. The discrimination can apply in all forms of the job which include hiring, pay, promotion, and firing just to name a few. There are a few different kinds of disability discrimination. You have direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, and failure to make proper adjustments.
Unfair dismissal is when someone is dismissed from their place of employment in a severe, wrongful, or senseless way. If the employer can not prove that it had a fair reason for the dismissal then it is unfair. Workplace harassment is when someone is being belittled or threatening behavior is being directed at a person or a group of people in the workplace. There are a few different types of workplace harassment. You have a supervisor’s harassment which results in changes to the employee’s pay or status. You have sexual harassment which is making unwanted and inappropriate sexual advances or remarks in the workplace. And you have hostile workplace where the conduct of someone in the workplace is intimidating, offensive, and abusive. This type of harassment must be intentional, severe, and recurring and it interferes with the workers ability to perform their job.
Lastly you have the whistleblower which is a person who notifies authorities about a person or a organization that have been involved in any activity that is believed to be illegal, unethical or not correct.
